Description:
Garrya elliptica is a dioecious (male and female flower parts on separate plants) evergreen shrub. The male plants are grown primarily for the attractive silky tassels that drape gracefully from the branches in late winter and early spring. Once the flowers are over, the dark green leathery foliage makes an effective backdrop for other plants throughout the rest of the year.
