Description:
At first glance this appears to be yet another well-executed modern 'Luciano'-style garden. But then the little details emerge, and you see why Paul Martin's Vestra Wealth garden is a deserved gold winner. The Equisetum against the back wall (see picture), the Verbena bonariensis floating above the planting, the cow-parsely under planting of the Agapanthus all make this garden truly great. The pavilion evokes Barcelona, complimented by Eileen Gray furniture. Paul even manages to squeeze in a stylish homage to the 'grow-your-own' movement. Herbs are held in square metal boxes. Not only does it look contemporary, but it has a true practical benefit - it keeps the soil (and roots) warm, which many popular herbs, being of Mediterranean origin, like.
