1930's Modernism is Alive & Well
by
Paul Richards
Southport Flower Show 2011
Garden Style:
Town/courtyard
Description:

This garden was the well-deserved top garden at Southport this year. Relying on extensive hard landscaping to wow the crowds, the planting was well thought through, too. Verbena bonariensis is very popular, but unusually was allocated its own bed, with a cleverly placed bench to cover the less attractive lower extremities. I also enjoyed the little details: herbs conveniently placed at the entrance to the pavilion would not only ensure pleasant fragrance but be a convenient source for a BBQ. Paul Richards and Greenbelt Landscapes were well rewarded with a best of show.
