Description:
Primula vulgaris, or common primrose, is a pretty heralding of the arrival of spring. Pale yellow rose shaped flowers, with a golden yellow corolla in the centre, form neat clumps above fresh green oval shaped leaves. Found in abundance in hedgerows and fields in the west of England, wild primroses have been hybridised for garden use. Grow in borders, as underplanting for larger shrubs, and in woodland planting schemes.
