There are several species of ants which you can find in gardens, they are the black ant, Lasius niger, the yellow meadow ant, Lasius flavus and red ants of various Myrmica species. Ants are generally considered as a nuisance rather than a obvious pest.

Causes:

Control:

Ants can be reduced in numbers can it is very hard to exterminate them. You can treat nest sites with bendiocarb, permethrin or pyrethrum or spray with cypermethrin, deltamethrin or plant oils.
