AGMAnemone x hybrida 'Honorine Jobert' (Japanese anemone) is a tall, late-flowering perennial that flowers reliably in shady sites and on all types of soil, just at the stage when other perennials are starting to fade. In spring it starts to form mounds of large, vine-like, dark green leaves. In late summer and early autumn, pinkish-buds open at the top of long, bare, thin stems to reveal pure white flowers with a ring of golden yellow stamens at the centre of each flower.
'Honorine Jobert' will grow in sun, although it may suffer if there is insufficient moisture, but it works best in partial shade, where the whiteness of the flowers can be seen to full effect, especially against dark-leaved plants such as yew. It prefers a moist, well drained soil and will cope with most soil pH types, even growing on chalk.
