Description:
Cornus alba are typically grown for their vibrant red, yellow, green or purple bark colour providing much needed interest in winter. Dogwood will typically grow in almost any soil, but do love wet ground. Cornus alba typically has green leaves in summer, turning bright oranges, purples or reds, making this of interest for the autumn garden, too.
The common name, Dogwood, is of Saxon-origin, meaning wood for skewer - the straight stems make ideal skewers for roasting.
